Government medical records

President Obama has decided to change the way government medical records are kept. His new plan has already come into affect and many people are giving mixed reviews on the president's decision to make all medical records obtainable only by a computer data base. For years doctors have been keeping medical records in a folder that contained written notes by all the doctors that the person had seen throughout their life. The president decided that this old way of record keeping needed to be converted with the new century. Change needed to be made, so the president implemented a system that is known as electronic medical records or (EMRs).

Electronic medical records are a web collection of records which include, any hospitalization stays a patient has had, x-rays, as well as office notes. The president states that keeping records in this new database will greatly lower the price of healthcare, which will make it obtainable for those who can not afford it. Although the president did have a great idea with his new system where he can store government medical records, many doctors disagree with some of his practices with the new system. There are some doctors that simply love the system, while others despise it and look at it like a bad decision.

The physicians that despise the system feel that they are having time taken away from their patients. Instead of sitting in with a patient and discussing their ailment face to face, they have to look at a computer screen and enter in everything that is being discussed. It takes away the personal doctor, patient atmosphere and almost isolates the doctor to a screen. Many doctors are finding this system hard to adapt to and believe that something needs to be done to do away with it. However, the new system is not going anywhere; the president feels that over time doctors will become accustomed to it.

With the drastic change on how government medical records are kept, there are a lot of questions that are arising for the president. There are people who simply love the system and how everything is at their fingertips, but the sad part is not everyone will be pleased with every decision that is made. Doctors feel that they have to take out extra time while at home, because the new system still has some kinks that need to be worked out. However, all shall pass with time.

This new form of electronic medical records, which is where all government medical records are kept, will soon catch on. Many doctors do not like the new advance, because they do not understand the significance of it. Keeping paper records, is taking up to much storage room, and with a computer everything is saved in a database, so the patient does not have to wait for their records to be found, they are easily accessible. Everyone needs to keep a positive outlook on the way the new government medical records are being kept. It is for the best.
