Government records are kept in order to ensure accountability in society. These records are public, and anyone can get their hands on this valuable content. The records are not put into accordance as a way to hurt anyone; they are specifically for the government to keep up on the status of the people. These records have been kept since the beginning of our government; they ensure that all citizens' activities are properly documented.

In the beginning of our government, these government records were all filed on paper. It made it almost impossible to keep the records in order, with the many changes that occur throughout ones existence. Government records record everything from your birth, your license, purchasing a home, or even filing a lawsuit. It's obvious that these records are extremely important to our democratic government, but they should also be of a significant importance to everyone. The government tries to instill peoples rights to privacy with these particular records, but as everyone knows sometimes things can fall through the cracks.

Everyone receives a reported documentation of their birth. This certificate signifies the day of your birth, the names of both parents, and your name. The documentation is kept in a computer database, so the Government can keep a census of the people. You must keep a copy of your birth certificate for the remainder of your life. Your driver's license permits you to be able to operate a motor vehicle. In order to obtain a driver's license you are required to show your birth certificate along with your social security card, which pertains a group of numbers that signify your identity. The computer database that the Department of Motor Vehicles enters your information into is automatically linked to the Governments official records.

A marriage license is given after you and your significant other are wed. The license signifies that you and another person are a family. The woman normally changes her name, which is why the Government database must be updated to clarify the change. A marriage license comes in two separate parts, the first part goes to the couple, while the other part is filed and put into a computer database that is also linked to the government. When you purchase your home, most people obtain a loan through a bank. All banks are connected to the Government. Therefore, since the government is inadvertently loaning you money, they keep documents pertaining to the transaction.

When you file a lawsuit, you are calling on the services of a lawyer. A lawyer is controlled by the rulings of a judge. The judge is then required to submit any pertinent documentation to the government for your protection and well being. This documentation allows the government to know what is going on throughout society; it is not used as a means to pry into your business.

Government records are primarily kept for times when you enter into a contractual agreement with another person. To make things a little bit simpler, whenever you enter your social security number on anything, the government keeps a copy of the documentation. The documentation is then stored, and kept safely in a database. This ultimately makes finding these records incredibly easy.
