The national archive public record office is made up of three organizations. The organizations that make up the office are the United Kingdom, The Historical Manuscripts Commission and the Office of Public Sector Information. The name national archive public record office is normally not used anymore. Many people prefer to call the office simply the public records office. Scholars decided not to utilize national archive in the name of the organization because it caused to much confusion for other countries.
The national archive public records office holds records for England, Wales and the UK Government. This building is known as a big deal for all Europe. Without some of these precious records many people would not be able to know anything about their ancestry and where they came from. The archives describe everything in detail from the beginning of Europe. One may even be able to find archives dating back to the Middle Ages. And, who can forget the official Doomsday prophet Nostradamus. His official manuscripts are held in the national archives record office.
The national archive public record office was first established in the mid 1800s. Records were begin recorded but space to put all the incredible manuscripts and records was running extremely low. Europeans did not want to lose the information which spoke of their ancestors and the struggles they had to overcome to make the great country what it was back then. Therefore, a scholar decided the best way to keep this valuable information preserved was to build a building that was dedicated specifically to public records. Although at that time, the records were anything but public.
In the beginning of the national archive public record office, people had to pay a based fee in order to borrow anything from inside the building. Common folk were not allowed to borrow any records at all. The only people who had any authority to handle the records were lawyers or judges. The Public Records Act of 1958, allowed anyone who wished to view the public records authority to do so. The records however may only be viewed when you are inside the building in order to preserve the records no records are to leave.
The national archive public record office was an incredibly smart idea for Europe. Today many people are inquisitive about what records they may find inside this great building. One of the best things is that you can actually view these historic documents in all their entirety right inside this grand building. No records are allowed to be kept in secret, which they shouldn't be allowed to in the first place. These public records are to remain public for anyone to take a gander at. History is a great thing that should be enjoyed by all.
