Public records

There have been many controversial cases concerning public records. Some people believe that allowing people to have access to public records is a great thing, while others seem to disagree. Whatever side you are on is your own prerogative. However, public records are going to stay exactly how they are public. Many states are trying to do away with public records because they claim that they cause too many problems. The fact of the matter is public records allow us to be able to find people that we may know, and they allow us to remain educated about what's going on in the world around us.

Public records are defined by your birth certificate, marriage license, divorce decree, and your death certificate. All of these documents are considered to be vital pieces of information that you must retain through your whole existence. Of course if you have never had a divorce you will not need the documentation stating separation. All of these documents are easily accessible through online searches. Many people believe that public records are breaking the privacy laws and need to be immediately ceased.

There are steps that must be taken in order to gain access to the different public records that are on file. Many of the steps are so simple that even a child can easily bulldoze through them. Many websites simply want you to know the person that you are seeking outs name, and the state that they have resided in. After you know the basics of the person you are wishing to fine, everything else practically falls into place. What is so wrong with being able to find people through the internet?

Skeptics claim that public records release too much personal information. Yet, when you sign for a marriage or a divorce or anything of that manner, someone already knows your personal information, so why should it matter. People are often times overjoyed when their babies are born and gloat about it like no ones business, so who cares if the certificate can be found online? Public records, allow other people to access your information, but they also allow you to do the same. What if you lost your birth certificate? Wouldn't you want to be able to access it as quickly as possible? Public records make this possible. If we were to abolish public records, obtaining vital information that you may need for yourself or for others would take weeks to receive.

Public records are not a bad thing to have. Public records allow people to reunite, and to find out things concerning their past. Why should anyone be able to stop people from public records? The funny thing is some states are beginning to stop the disposal of records to the public, because they claim the public doesn't need to be able to view them. Who decided that? These records are the people's records, so why shouldn't they be able to view them?
